Frequently Asked Questions:

I was referred to LiveWell 365 for health coaching. How do I get started?

If you’re here ready to start with our health coach, Caitlin, then we suggest to go ahead and schedule an Initial Consult.

This is the best way to identify what type of support you need and for how long. In addition, for clients seeking functional lab testing, Dr. Houser suggests scheduling an Initial Consult with Caitlin to identify and address many of the diet and lifestyle imbalances that are driving our chronic health issues.

Here's the process: First, head to LiveWell 365 Client Portal.

Then, select "I'm a New Client" > Select Caitlin > Select Initial Visit > Choose a time/date that works best for you.

If you'd like to first learn more about her services, head to the Health Coaching page of our website.

What role will my health coach play?

A LiveWell 365 health coach like a sports coach, will teach you, mentor you, help you build resilience, and motivate you to succeed.

Your coach is your partner, your ally, your listener, and is fully committed to supporting you in achieving your health & wellness goals. However, a coach does not diagnose illness, provide treatments or prescribe medicine.

The coach helps fill the gap created when you know what’s wrong and what to do, but struggle to do it. If you don’t know what’s wrong, or don’t know what to do, your coach can connect you with the right professionals that can meet those needs.

How does it work?

Everyone is different and every session is catered to each specific client. This is because each client has personal health concerns and tailored wellness goals.

How long will it take?

Everyone’s situation is unique and the length of time needed to accomplish your goals depends on your willingness to commit to change.

What can I do to get the most out of coaching?

Active participation and dedication is crucial to your success. It’s the work you do outside of the coaching sessions that will help you see your personal growth and development.

Why can’t my doctor provide this kind of support?

Traditional doctor’s offices are not structured to provide the time needed to meet individual health needs.

Many aspects of coaching involve extensive education, not only to provide to the education, but also to work through the misinformation, confusion, fads, marketing, and other bad information often found online and on social media.

Health coaches are behavior change specialists. They support people in discovering their own strategies and motivations for change, how to overcome obstacles, and implement protocols that have been prescribed by a physician, dietitian/nutritionist, or that the client has chosen to implement on their own.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes and no. Currently, services provided by Dr. Houser are billed through your insurance plan. Health coaching is not. These services may qualify for HSA reimbursement and can be paid with an HSA debit card.

Insurance coverage for specialty testing through functional medicine labs vary by provider and test. Payment for testing is generally required at the time of service.

Can LW365 serve as my primary care?

Live Well 365 is a service that can help support your primary care. We are not a replacement for your current primary care provider.

Additionally, Dr. Houser currently does not see individual clients through LW365. She is the medical resource for our team, not a one-on-one physician.

However, we would be more than willing to coordinate your care with your current healthcare team.. This means we can send progress notes, labs, recommendations, and successes to your PCP if you so desire.

Ask your LW365 clinician about options for coordination of care and a medical history release.

What is functional medicine?

To learn more about functional medicine with Live Well 365 click here.

Functional medicine is a practice philosophy where your clinician seeks to identify and correct the root cause of disease or discomfort. According to the Institute of Functional Medicine, functional medicine:

“…determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual.

It’s a patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers both patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.

It requires a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors to develop the personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.”

What does “HIPPA Compliant” mean?

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act is a law designed to outline standards for privacy and protection of patient’s medical records and other personal health information.

To be “HIPAA Compliant” means that we operate our practice in a manner that protects your right to privacy under this act. Our video-based sessions aren’t your typical FaceTime or Skype calls — the system we use puts safeguards in place to ensure the safety and security of your private health information at all times.

What is a dietitian?

A registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) is a health professional trained in food and nutrition science who uses these principles combined with behavior change principles to impact health. They undergo rigorous training and in many states, like other medical professionals, they require a license to practice.

RDN’s have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, have undergone a supervised practice program, and passed a national standardized exam. Additionally, RDN’s are required to complete continuing education requirements every five years to maintain registration.
